  • Ask, ‘How could you tell which glass was which?’ (By listening very close)
  • Share, ‘That is how it is with Jesus. We have to listen very close to what Jesus is saying. Jesus listens to us, talks with us, and likes when we listen to Him, too.’

Week 4 - This King Forgives

Action – Learn how and when to say “I’m sorry.”

Song Amazing Grace

Scripture – “I forgive you. Avoid the same mistake.” (John 8:11)

Teaching Video – “Forgiveness and Legos”

Craft – Forgiveness Jar. Take a glass vase or empty jar, like the ones used for spaghetti sauce. Remind them about the story of Jesus forgiving the woman in John 8:1-11. Then invite them to write their sins or mistakes on a piece of paper. From there, read this week’s Scripture as if Jesus was saying it to them. “I forgive you. Avoid the same mistake.” (John 8:11) Then have your kids (and ideally you) rip your paper as small as possible. Place the shreds in the Forgiveness Jar. Decorate the outside of the jar with markers, paint, or ribbons. This makes sure the Forgiveness is what is Beautiful rather than the papers which represent Sin. You can place this Forgiveness Jar in your kitchen for the family to see and possible add to.
